Throughout the years, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) worked with talented local artists who created thought-provoking exhibitions and installations. These videos take audiences behind-the-scenes to look at the creative minds shaping the cultural landscape at YBCA, offering insight into their impactful contributions to the arts community.


The Monument as Living Memory

For over two years, Caleb Duarte’s The Monument as Living Memory was placed on YBCA’s Plaza and updated through collaborations with other Bay Area artists. This video chronicled each change to the artwork and how it provided a space for community voices.

love @ first line

love @ first line was a public artwork by Anna Sergeeva that covered YBCA’s building with the first lines of six hundred love poems. Each line was presented in English, Spanish, Tagalog, and Traditional Chinese to represent the various communities that call SOMA home.

YBCA 10

In 2021, YBCA worked with 10 artists to create installations focused on health and well-being, racial justice, and climate equity for the exhibition dreamseeds. Below are videos highlighting the inspiration, journey, and process behind creating their installations.
